Steve Borthwick

Steve Borthwick is a profound English rugby union coach, best known for representing the senior England rugby union team between 2001 and 2010. Having gained many years of remarkable success as a professional rugby player, he has become a leading authority within the sporting industry. Recently announcing that he will be taking over from Eddie Jones as the Head Coach of the England men’s rugby team, Steve is also attending speaking events to share his valuable insights on topics such as leadership, resilience, and teamwork.

Gaining his passion for rugby whilst still at school, Steve began his professional career at Bath rugby club in 1998. Making his debut against Saracens, he balanced his sporting career with his studies, showcasing his driven mindset to achieve his goals. Also developing an incredible international career, Steve was part of the England rugby team for 10 years, representing the country in a variety of large-scale tournaments. In 2008, Steve transferred to Saracens where he was named co-captain in the first year at the club. Spending seven years at the club, he announced his retirement at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Devoted to the sporting industry, Steve began his coaching training whilst still playing for Saracens, taking up an in-club role. In 2012, he became the forward coach for Japan, before later being confirmed as the Bristol Rugby forward coach under Andy Robinson. In 2015, Steve was selected to become the England Forward Coach, a role which allowed him to train the international team of which he was once part of. Respected in the rugby world, he was confirmed to become the head coach for Leister Tigers for the 2020-21 Premiership season. Most recently, it was announced that Steve would take over as Head Coach of the England men’s rugby team.
