Slim is one of the UK’s most celebrated comedians and an engaging keynote speaker, recognised as the undisputed king of the Black British comedy circuit. His greatest milestone came when he became the first Black British comedian to sell out the London Palladium with his own show. Known for his physical style and ebullient delivery, Slim has built a career that spans more than two decades, performing to audiences across the world and appearing on some of the country’s most prestigious television comedy platforms.
Born in South London to Jamaican parents, Slim’s journey began in 1993 when he first took to the stage at the Hackney Empire in front of 1,500 people. That debut proved to be a defining moment, sparking a career that would take him from London’s grassroots venues to international stages. Drawing on the energy of his upbringing, the humour of everyday life and the influence of his Caribbean heritage, Slim developed a style that was both original and universally appealing.
Slim’s career has been marked by landmark achievements and high-profile appearances. He has performed internationally in Europe, the Caribbean, the United States, Dubai, Qatar and the Falkland Islands, and was the first Black British comedian to perform at Hollywood’s Comedy Store in 2005. He has supported global stars including Kevin Hart, Bill Bellamy and John Witherspoon, proving his standing among the very best in comedy. His television credits are extensive, with appearances on Live at the Apollo (BBC), The Russell Howard Hour (Sky One), Sorry I Didn’t Know (ITV1) and Unforgivable (Dave). In recognition of his talent, Slim won Best Male Stand-Up at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards in 2004, and a year later was voted comics’ favourite comedian by his peers.
Event organisers choose Slim not only for his sharp comedy but for his ability to deliver humour with resonance and meaning. He speaks on London life, Black heritage, culture, music, parenting, family, lifestyle and ageing, blending entertainment with thought-provoking commentary. His performances for Meta, Google HQ and the Powerlist Black Excellence Awards, along with his role hosting the Birmingham Black Lawyers Ball and the Black Funding Network, highlight his reach beyond the stage. Slim’s international success, award-winning career and unique voice make him an unforgettable speaker, bringing laughter, insight and cultural relevance to every event.
