Shivani Uberoi is an author, TEDx speaker, chartered accountant and founder of The Wallflower Academy. She is best known for her work on authenticity, belonging and workplace culture, helping organisations create environments where people can be themselves and thrive.
Her first book, 'Unlocking Authenticity: Why We Hide Who We Are at Work and How to Redefine Culture from the Inside Out', explores the hidden cost of fitting in and the impact that suppression, self-censorship and identity safety have on wellbeing, performance and leadership. Drawing on interviews, research and lived experience, the book examines the tension many people face between fitting in and being themselves, including women, people from ethnically diverse backgrounds, neurodivergent individuals and others whose identities can leave them feeling different from the norm.
Shivani’s TEDx talk, 'Why Fitting In Will Screw You Up', sparked conversations around belonging, identity and workplace culture and forms the foundation of her speaking and advisory work. Through powerful storytelling, humour and practical insight, she helps audiences understand the personal and organisational costs of hiding who we are. Before founding The Wallflower Academy, Shivani spent more than a decade at Sky, where she transitioned from a successful finance career into inclusion and culture change. A Chartered Accountant who trained with PwC and holds a degree in Economics and Accounting, she went on to lead Sky’s gender equality strategy across a workforce of more than 26,000 employees. She founded Women@Sky, co-founded Multiculture@Sky and helped shape initiatives that contributed to Sky’s recognition as one of the UK’s most inclusive employers.
Today, Shivani works with organisations including the England and Wales Cricket Board, Rightmove, PepsiCo, BMW, Virgin Media O2 and Stagecoach. Her keynotes explore authenticity, belonging, psychological safety, confidence, leadership, gender equality, mental health and neurodiversity, combining lived experience with neuroscience, coaching and evidence-based practice. She is also leading the conversation on AI, human connection and authenticity in the UK. As a British Indian woman, working parent and someone who discovered later in life that she is neurodivergent, Shivani brings a deeply personal perspective to her work. Having spent years trying to fit in to environments that were not designed with difference in mind, she is passionate about helping individuals and organisations move beyond inclusion towards cultures where people can contribute, connect and succeed without hiding who they are.
