Award-winning stand-up comedian Sam Lake has been performing for four years and already gained multiple awards for his crowd pleasing performances. The Cornwall born comedian, who brings an upbeat larger than life personality to everyone of his shows, openly shares stories from his life as a semi-camp gay man who moves from a small mining village to a big city.
Although Sam is only a newcomer to the comedy scene there's no doubt he has taken it by storm, 2016 saw Sams first sell out the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe with his show Joking Hazard. This hilarious performance only kick-started his hugely successful career. Following his brilliant performance he was invited back a year later to perform two shows, The Daddy and Beeje Chat Show and Queens. The first show was a comedy play about a dysfunctional TV presenting duo and Queens was a split-bill stand-up showcase with Tash Goldstone.
2018 was a big year for Sam as he was asked by LADBible to feature in their campaign promoting International Coming Out Day, which was a real honour for him to be able to be a part of something so personal to him. He also worked alongside Beth Vyse to help write her show Olive Hands: The Hand that Rocked the Cradle. The show was a big success receiving four and five star reviews and subsequently was listed by the Edinburgh Evening News as “The 40 Best Jokes from the Edinburgh Fringe”.
His impressive career has only continued in 2019 where he's already earned a place in the Final of 2Northdown's New Act Competition and started preparing a show with comedian Chloe Petts. The show is based on LGBT issues and masculinity and is called Household Essentials and is confirmed to be performed at Brighton, Hastings and Edinburgh Fringe Festival. On the side of his stand-up Sam is the co-host of a queer driven radio show played on Wandsworth Radio. The show titled, Driving You Homos, is broadcast every Wednesday at 9pm and is a LGBT focused light entertainment show.
Sam's career in comedy has seen him nominated for the BBC New Comedy Award in both 2016 and 2017 although this way just the start of his career, 2016 also saw him win South Coast Comedian of the Year. Then deeper into his career in 2018 Sam's hilarious performances resulted in him winning Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian of the Year and awarded with Hastings Fringe Newcomer of the Year
Whether your looking for an event host or entertainer Sam can make any event truly unique with his hilarious and comical presence. Performing comes second nature to Sam with ability to not take himself too seriously when talking about his personal experiences makes him an exceptional entertainment addition to an event.
