Rose Ovensehi is the founder and CEO of Flora and Curl, a plant-powered range of essential products for textured hair. Using Aromatherapy and botanical, natural ingredients, Rose has dedicated nearly ten years to building her impressive, award-winning business rooted in thought, identity, and simplicity.
In 2011, Rose decided to embrace her natural hair texture after years of feeling like she had to straighten it to fit into a certain mould. In her mother’s kitchen, she began to experiment with organic components to hydrate her hair. After saving enough money, she left her job in transport planning to attend a cosmetic science school to finalise the formulas she had been trying to perfect. In 2017, she launched Flora and Curl, garnering a loyal community through the success of her products on clients' hair, encouraging them to embrace their curls too.
Now stocked in leading retailers like Boots, Superdrug, and Tesco, Flora and Curl has received numerous accolades, including winning the Best Textured Natural Haircare Range and Best Textured Shampoo and Conditioner from the Hair Awards 2024. Rose herself was featured in Forbes’ 30 under 30, and won Fashion & Beauty Entrepreneur of the Year, the Made in the UK Award, Small Enterprise Award, and, most recently, was a winner of Channel 4 and Lloyds’ Black in Business Initiative, with which we won £150,000 worth of free advertising airtime.
