Pippa Crerar is a pioneering British journalist, currently acting as the Political Editor for The Guardian. Pippa has reported on both British and international politics for over 20 years, and her ground-breaking work on Westminster has won her multiple industry awards. As a key journalist in breaking the Partygate story and Barnard Castle scandal, Pippa brings together precise reporting with sharp analysis and commentary. As a speaker, she explores how to get to the truth, her journey through journalism as a woman and what she has learnt from all her years reporting on politics. For a determined and motivational speaker, Pippa is the perfect choice for your event, conference or forum.
Pippa graduated with a degree in English from Newcastle University and soon enrolled on the postgraduate newspaper journalism course at City University. From there, she worked as a Political Correspondent and City Hall editor for The London Evening Standard, slowly finding her voice within the fast-paced world of political journalism. Pippa's incisive and well-crafted writing soon led her to become Political Editor for the Daily Mirror in 2018. Alongside this position, she also hosted the Politics Weekly podcast, sharing her insights on the latest political stories. In 2020, she was trusted as the Chair of the Parliamentary Press Gallery, ensuring journalists were appropriately represented during parliamentary matters. In 2021, Pippa made her journalistic breakthrough when she reported on an unlawful party that had taken place at Downing Street during the Covid-19 lockdown, an event that would come to be known as Partygate. Exposing the hypocrisy of the government and the Prime Minister, Pippa's journalistic integrity and commitment to the truth were well-received by the public. The British Journalism Review also commended her "fearless truth-telling".
Pippa's ethical journalism was praised with several industry awards. In 2020, she won Scoop of the Year at the British Journalism Awards for her investigative work. The same year, she won Journalist of the Year at the London Press Club Awards for her story on Dominic Cummings breaking lockdown guidelines. In 2022, she also won the Political Journalist of the Year at The Press Awards and Political Journalist of the Year at the Society of Editors' Media Freedom Awards. In 2026, Pipa was nominated again for the Political Journalist of the Year for her continued effort in going beyond the surface to uncover the truth.
As well as being an award-winning journalist, Pippa also appears on TV, sharing her political understanding with hosts and audiences alike. She regularly appears on The Andrew Marr Show, Politics Live, and weekly on Sky News. In 2025, Pippa replaced Anushka Asthana as co-host with Robert Peston on ITV's Peston Programme.
