Ndaba Mandela

Social entrepreneur, political consultant and author, Ndaba Mandela is a success in his own right. Committing much of his time to continue the legacy of his late grandfather, Nelson Mandela, Ndaba has also been highly influential in promoting a positive perception of Africa to the wider world and raising awareness of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. A sought-after international speaker, Ndaba offers presentations on the relationship between businesses and community development, opportunities on the continent and the prominence of Nelson Mandela’s values today.

As the Founder and Chairman of Africa Rising, Ndaba has dedicated his career to promoting a positive perception of Africa. Despite past struggles, Ndaba’s organisation is committed to showcasing the social, economic and business opportunities the continent can offer. Particularly passionate about encouraging youth, Ndaba has empowered the next generation of professionals, supporting them in becoming international assets to businesses worldwide. Such pride for Africa comes from Ndaba’s memories of his grandfather, and his ambitions to continues Nelson Mandela’s inspiring work. As part of this, Ndaba Founded the Mandela Project and was part of the Mandela Centenary team.

Growing up with strong family values, spearheaded by Nelson Mandela, gave Ndaba the same intrinsic respect for those around him. After his grandfather heroically survived imprisonment, Ndaba moved to live with him, where he spent two decades following in his footsteps. Entering the professional environment, Ndaba started as a Political Consultant for the Japanese Embassy before moving on to a senior position at Investec. However, with such a prominent upbringing, Ndaba knew his future was in social work, and continuing the legacy. Utilising his platform to raise awareness of important issues, Ndama has collaborated with the likes of Prince Harry and Sir Elton John to reduce the stigma surrounding the AIDs/HIV epidemic and he is currently an ambassador for UNAIDS.

An accomplished author, Ndaba published ‘Going to the Mountain: Life Lessons from My Grandfather, Nelson Mandela’ which explored creating legacies and giving back to society as the late leader had done. Named amongst the 28 Men of Change by BET, Ndaba is recognised as an influential Black African whose impact is undeniable. Able to discuss his achievements alongside those of Nelson Mandela, Ndaba is highly sought after as a speaker, thanks to his relevance for corporate audiences and international development.
