Michael Owen is a former England International who represented some of the world’s biggest clubs including Liverpool and Real Madrid. In a career that spanned 17 years, he won club eight trophies and the 2001 Ballon d’Or. He continued his prolific goal scoring record on Tyneside and even captained the side in his four-year spell at the club. He then moved to Manchester United where we won the Premier League and League Cup and became loved by the United fans as he scored a dramatic winner against local rivals Manchester City in the 2009/10 season. He called time on his playing career in 2013 after a spell at Stoke City. At the end of his career, Owen had scored 222 goals at club level as well as 40 for his country, becoming England’s sixth-highest scorer of all time and the only Englishman to score at four consecutive major tournaments. Since retiring Michael has been a pundit and co-commentator for BT Sports, covering the Premier League, Champions League, and the FA Cup.
