Lucy Gossage is a professional triathlete with a whopping 14 Ironman wins under her belt. Simultaneously a Consultant Oncologist at Nottingham University Hospitals, Lucy specialises in the treatment of sarcomas and germ cell tumours – a rapidly advancing area of study. As a motivational keynote speaker, Lucy speaks on the power of passion, patience, and perseverance, whilst sharing more about her experiences as an athlete.
Educated at Cambridge University, Lucy worked towards her clinical research fellowship at the Cambridge Research Fellowship. Often referring to herself as an ‘accidental pro’, Lucy just happened upon her illustrious career as a triathlete. Since her first triathlon in 2006, Lucy has won 14 Ironman races, setting the second-fastest record in the UK for a 100-mile trial. Her finish line celebrations are a highlight for many viewers, and they are known as #doingalucy.
As an oncologist, Lucy’s efforts are equally focussed on raising awareness for dangerous disease. She is the Founder of 5k Your Way, Move Against Cancer – a community-based initiative that encourages those who live with cancer and their families to participate in their parkrun events. Along with being a Trustee of the Move Charity, Lucy also co-hosts the Move Against Cancer podcast.
