Lorna Prichard is a Welsh comedian from North East Wales. She is also a trusted broadcaster, having appeared regularly on TV and radio for the last 12 years. Her warm, natural manner and charm endear her to audiences of all ages. She is a gifted improviser who can keep her cool no matter what. Before turning to comedy full-time in 2018, Lorna was better known as a reporter for ITV Wales. Lorna’s have-a-go attitude was a hit with viewers when investigating bats living in a hotel dungeon or joining ghost hunters for a night at a haunted pub. But her journalism pedigree also made her a natural for investigative journalism and a first on the scene of breaking news.
In February 2021 Lorna wrote a comedy drama on BBC Radio Wales based on her own lockdown love story which soon went viral and was picked up by all major newspapers and TV channels. She has also become a popular presenter of factual entertainment programmes for the BBC, with last year’s ‘What Colour is Friday?‘ now nominated for a prestigious Aria Award. A summer programme on Wild Swimming is in progress. Along with presenting her own weekly show for Radio Wales. Lorna has presented numerous light entertainment programmes for Radio Wales since 2019. Another programme on wild swimming is forthcoming along with other projects
She also has a knack for covering complicated or potentially dry topics with a lightness of touch, such as a 2019 documentary on the history of Sunday trading laws. Her ability to connect with people of all ages was made clear in ‘Turkey & Tinsel’ when she accompanied a group of pensioners on their holiday and made lifelong friends.
Lorna performed her first show ‘From Blags to Riches’ to sellout audiences at Edinburgh and Leicester Comedy Festivals in 2019. She won the Blockchain Comedy Award in San Francisco in 2018 and was a featured comedian at FOCUS Wales 2018. Her sketches for online platform BBC Sesh have been shared by BBC3 and BBC Comedy and been viewed by millions of views across the world. She is a fluent Welsh speaker and presents an opera podcast for Welsh National Opera. A comedy storytelling pilot is currently in development with S4C.
