Laura Lexx is a comedian, author, improviser and actor who has built a reputation as one of the most engaging performers in the UK. She is known for her sharp intelligence, playful delivery and ability to bring warmth and energy to every stage. Laura has performed at top venues across the UK and Europe and in 2024 her sell-out tour show Slinky won Best Show at the Women in Comedy Festival, cementing her status as one of the most exciting talents of her generation. A natural storyteller and a much-loved figure in both live comedy and corporate events, she is also a vocal advocate for mental health and women’s rights.
Laura grew up in Taunton, Somerset, where her mother was a primary school teacher. After school, she studied drama at the University of Kent, graduating with a master’s degree in 2009. It was during her early career working in search engine optimisation that she began performing comedy, quickly discovering her passion for live performance. By 2015, she had committed to comedy full-time and began making waves on the circuit. Her breakthrough came in 2016 with Tyrannosaurus Lexx at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, a show that established her voice as witty, fearless and unafraid to challenge audiences. That same year, a video of her brilliantly dismantling a sexist heckler went viral, gaining her international attention.
Since then, Laura has carved out an impressive career both on and off stage. She was a finalist in the 2016 Amused Moose Comedy Awards, twice nominated for Best Compere at the Chortle Awards, and went on to win Best Performer at the Comedian’s Choice Awards in 2018. Her show ‘Trying’, which explored the challenges of starting a family, earned widespread praise for its honesty and humour and was followed by Knee Jerk, a bold take on political issues after the EU referendum, which won her the Comedians’ Choice Award at the 2019 Chortle Awards. She has made acclaimed appearances on Mock the Week, Live at the Apollo, Roast Battle and Hypothetical. Laura is also the author of two books, the viral-inspired hit Klopp Actually and Pivot, further broadening her audience.
What sets Laura apart is her ability to move effortlessly between comedy, hosting and keynote speaking. She has hosted major corporate events including for Google, The Purpose Awards and The Hustle Awards, as well as entertaining audiences at high-profile industry gatherings like the London Transport Awards and The Drum Social Business Awards. Covering topics such as mental health, women’s leadership, education, regional identity, parenting and even pets, she brings both humour and relatability to subjects that matter. With her unique mix of warmth, candour and intelligence, Laura is an outstanding choice for any event.
