Kevin Phillips

Kevin Phillips is a prolific goal scorer who has had a long and distinguished career in Premiership and International football. With an illustrious career in Premier League Football, Kevin was the first Englishman to receive the European Golden Shoe for his impressive performance at Sunderland. With eight appearances for the England National Team under his belt, as well as distinguished positions as coach and manager at Premier League and National League teams, Kevin has a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch to motivate and inspire. 

Kevin began his career signing with non-League team Baldock Town in 1991, but was soon sighed for Watford in 1994 before joining Sunderland in 1997. While with the club, Kevin became the first player since Brian Clough to score thirty goals in a season. His career with Sunderland went from strength to strength and in 1999 he was named Premier League Player of the Month. By the end of the season, Kevin would be honoured with the Premier League Golden Boot and the European Golden Shoe, becoming the first English man to receive the award and the only person to achieve it in the Premier League. 

Kevin’s career continued to thrive and he played for elite teams such as Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City before his retirement in 2014. Since retiring, Kevin has forged a successful career as a coach and manager, becoming Assistant Coach at Derby County in 2015 before becoming First Team Coach at Stoke City. In 2022, Kevin became the Manager of South Shields and went on to be appointed the Head Coach of Hartlepool United before taking on his current challenge of Head Coach of AFC Fylde.
