Twelve years in the British Army established Katrina Hodge as a courageous member of the military service. Her enduring bravery ensured countless lives were saved. Katrina was commended for her bravery while serving in Iraq. She has also become a major role model for young women, thanks to her candidacy in the Miss World Pageant. Helping to initiate change in the competition, she came runner-up in the 2009 Miss England contest and was promoted to winner due to the previous winner being involved in a fight. She was instrumental in the bikini round's removal from the competition after she campaigned for the beauty pageants to be more about the woman behind the body, saying: "It's about being a good role model".
Prior to winning the Beauty Pageant, she saved the lives of five fellow comrades when she managed to disarm an escaped Iraqi convict following a road accident. When she entered the competition, she wanted to showcase the skills she'd earned in the army and was lauded for her rifle skills and assault course acumen. She managed to raise an incredible £1 million for charities across the world. In 2010 she passed on the Miss England crown and returned to duty in Afghanistan where she was subjected to sexism and bullying due to her achievements outside of the armed forces. Despite people attempting to sabotage her reputation and discredit her successes - Katrina continued serving her country.
In the process, she inspired hundreds of new army recruits and young women all over the world. Regular appearances on Good Morning Britain followed, with Katrina discussing and leading the debate on all things army. Her efforts have been truly well-received at corporate events, military events, and international women's day events.
She is an inspirational speaker whose courageous tale is enough to motivate any team to reach peak performance and unlock drive and determination. Her book, Combat to Catwalk was released in the hope of inspiring young women to achieve their dreams, whatever the obstacles. She has also appeared in various campaigns on bullying and sexism in the workforce and remains an authoritative keynote speaker in this area due to her incredible ability to overcome such abuse. In addition to this, Katrina has overwhelmed audiences with her entertaining, passionate and inspirational story.
