Katherine Copeland

Olympic speaker and gold medal winning rower Katherine Copeland who made her international debut at the 2012 London Olympics where she and fellow sports speaker Sophie Hosking represented Great Britain in the Women’s Lightweight Sculls. Together the pair won the second of what would become six gold medals on the infamous Super Saturday.

A natural rower Copeland took up the sport at age fourteen and was soon enthralled by the powerful and exciting sport. She made her debut as an Olympic speaker during the 2012 Games and rocketed to fame after she and Hosking surprised commentators and the bookie’s alike by taking the gold. Since then Katherine Copeland MBE has continued to participate in the sport, including representing the UK at the 2014 European Championships.

Outside her work as an Olympic speaker Kat Copeland also works as a teacher of autistic children, running an after school class which engages the children in sport in order to help those with specific learning and social development problems.

Kat Copeland was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to British sport and work as a sports speaker in the 2013 New Year Honours. She is an inspiring after dinner speaker and he charity work champions the rights of those less fortunate than she.
