Julius Roberts is a cook, farmer and gardener who leads a self-sufficient life on his family’s smallholding in Dorset. Cultivating the finest ingredients, and cooking and eating high quality nutrient dense food, Julius shares his enticing lifestyle with his 210K Instagram followers. Promoting sustainability, seasonality, and animal welfare, he is on a mission to inspire more people to connect with nature and lead a slower, healthier lifestyle.

First developing his life-long passion for food in the kitchens of his childhood, where he witnessed the magical delight of cooking, Julius sought a career as a professional cook after completing art college. Whilst spending some time working in stressful London kitchens, the intense environment induced memories of the serene, peaceful countryside, which saw him make the decision to go back to his family land to grow and forage his food.

Over the years, Julius’ knowledge grew, and he developed an in-depth insight into foraging and growing seasonal food, allowing him to lead a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, where he can be relatively self-sufficient. Turing those ingredients into colourful, healthy, and flavourful recipes, in addition to sharing his experience rearing pigs, chickens, sheep and goats has garnered Julius a substantial following on Instagram and TikTok.

Recently Julius was offered a TV series with Channel 5, A Taste of the Country, where he shares his exciting adventures of working in his Dorset small holding. He has also made an appearance on Fortnum’s Hungry Minds podcast and was featured in Tatler’s magazine in 2022. Living a lifestyle that people can only dream of, Julius eloquently shares his journey towards becoming self-sufficient and is outspoken about animal welfare, eating in season, and connecting with nature.
