One of the country’s best known celebrity chefs and TV Presenters, James Tanner has become a regular on our television screen after first appearing on Ready Steady Cook in 2002. Famed for catchphrases such as ‘like so’ and ‘dig down deep’, James’ enthusiasm and passion for encouraging people to try new food and techniques at home was clearly apparent.
Moving to New York to work under the Roux Brothers at the Lake Placid Lodge, James learnt the tricks of trade before moving up the ranks before returning to England for a job at the two Michelin starred restaurant Lettonie in Bath. Tanner moved on to take on the head chef role at Right On The Green in Kent. At the age of just 23, James opened his own restaurant with Brother Chris in Plymouth. Not before too long the establishment has become one of the most renowned culinary destinations in the UK. James’ restaurant was voted the Best Restaurant in the UK for 2007/2008 in the AA Awards.
One of the most popular chefs ever to have appeared on Ready Steady Cook, Tanner went on to appear regularly on Great Food Live as well as becoming a stalwart feature for ITV’s Lorraine and BBC’s Saturday Kitchen Live. Tanner’s popularity as a celebrity chef is shown in James’ incredibly popular cookery publications, including For Chocolate Lovers and Ice Cream. James enjoys participating in cookery demonstrations as well as appearing at cooking shows and on television. A consummate professional, Tanner will ensure he engages with guests whilst providing invaluable advice for budding home cooks.
