Ian Humphries is the owner of Manormonkeys Antiques, and is a self-confessed antiqueholic! Since the mid-1980s, Ian has dealt with antiques, developing detailed expertise on a range of antique and decorative items. From 17th - 20th century furniture to quirky objects d’art, Ian has enjoyed a decorated career of buying and selling the most incredible antique objects. With extensive media experience under his belt, Ian is now embarking on his journey as an auctioneer, and is becoming a popular choice for event hosting and auctioneering at corporate events and dinners.
Cutting his teeth in the world of antiques long before the internet, Ian’s early career saw him driving across the country to buy his antiques, viewing and bidding in auctions. Over the many years he has collected antiques, Ian has learned the ins and outs of trends within the antiques market. He has also developed a keen eye for spotting hidden treasures, such as when he bought a George Jones teapot for £4, which sold at auction for £1750. Ian is also renowned for his tattoos, a guaranteed conversation starter! Aside from Manormonkeys Antiques, Ian is best known for being a Dealer on BBC1’s The Bidding Room, having starred on the programme since its inception.
Other television credits of Ian’s include The Vintage French Farmhouse, The Antique Road Trip, Salvage Hunters, Flipping Profit and Celebrity Antique Road Trip, relishing in the opportunity to share not only his expertise but his love for antiques. In addition to television, Ian also has a plethora of radio credits, too. He has been interviewed by BBC Radio Leicester, BBC Hereford & Worcester and Phoenix Radio Halifax. In his radio interviews, Ian is regularly asked to comment on what makes antiques collectable and what he expects to be considered antiques in years to come.
