Lawyer Howard Gutman has served a successful career in law and has been heavily involved with American politics. He is widely known for his previous role as the United States Ambassador to Belgium, brought to the nomination by the then President Barack Obama. Currently, Howard is the Managing Director of The Gutman Group, encompassing consultancy, advice and investment in his daily duties.
After graduating from both Columbia University and Harvard Law School, Howard began his career as a clerk with the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, working alongside Irving Loeb Goldberg. Building upon his education in law, Howard later went on to work for Cravath, Swaine & Moore as a lawyer and then the United States Supreme Court as a clerk for Potter Stewart. He has also acted as a lawyer for firms such as Williams & Connolly LLP and worked as a Special Assistant to William H Webster, an FBI Director. Over the course of his time working in law, Howard was able to gain invaluable skills in security, contracting, banking, real estate, insurance and international law.
Throughout his career, Howard has also been involved in Democratic politics. He built his knowledge of politics as part of Barack Obama’s National Finance Committee and as a trustee of the Presidential Inauguration Committee. Howard has also raised thousands of dollars to support various Democratic candidates and has built skills working in legal representation, speech writing, policy issues and the media. One of his most prominent roles in politics was as the former United States Ambassador to Belgium, even dubbed the most popular ambassador ever in Belgium.
Currently, Howard acts as the Managing Director of The Gutman Group. Focussing on areas such as the USA, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, The Gutman Group helps its clients in corporate issues, markets, investment, capital, international relations and various other business matters. Outside of The Gutman Group, Howard serves on boards for Exmar and for Ageas Insurance on their real estate company. With such a successful career behind him, Howard is also frequently sought to appear on television having spoken on Fox News on several occasions. He has also appeared in K Street, the Tim Robbins film Noise and Fame.
After forging a highly successful career spanning the fields of law and politics, Howard is now highly sought as a public speaker for a range of corporate events.
