Dan Howie

Oxford Brookes graduate Dan Howie is an extreme sportsman and motivational speaker who has faced some of the toughest challenges on the planet and raced across some of the most dangerous oceans in the world. Alongside fellow rower and motivational speaker, Will North Dan Howie famously took part in the 2013 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Row where he and his team mate crossed the Atlantic raising funds for three charities, Cancer Research UK, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and St Anne’s home & school. The team raised an impressive £200,000 for the three charities and managed the crossing in a little over 53 days.

As a motivational speaker Dan Howie discusses his experiences at sea, the importance of training and the personal endurance required to accomplish such an amazing feat – with three shoulder operations in his recent past Dan had never stepped foot aboard a boat before embarking on the training for Atlantic Row. Before taking part in the Atlantic Row Dan had completed several marathons and half marathons as well as long distance endurance cycling races.

During the fundraising for the Atlantic Row Dan was called upon to appear at numerous after dinner speaker events calling on the patrons to donate toward the various noteworthy causes they were supporting. Since completing the Atlantic Row Dan Howie has continued to take part in a number of sporting and fundraising activities, his experience on the Atlantic Row kindling a love of a new sport within him and filling him with passion and determination. Ambitious and dedicated by nature Dan Howie is an impressive and inspirational after dinner speaker whose appearance has been requested at a variety of both corporate and charitable events.
