Carl Frampton

Professional boxer, Carl Frampton has had a history-defining career in the ring, as one of the best in the sport to come from Northern Ireland. Competing across three weight divisions over more than a decade, Carl has proven himself a determined and skilful fighter, known for his power in the orthodox stance. Gaining the nicknames, The Jackal and Brick Fists, Carl’s hard-hitting moves set him about the rest, and he has gone from an unbeatable amateur career to one of the most impressive professional records in boxing. Best known for winning two weight championships, Carl is the first boxer from Northern Ireland to hold world titles in two weight classes, one of the many highlights from his extensive career. Gaining his first title in 2014, Carl faced Kiko Martinez at the Titanic Quatre in Belfast, where he won by unanimous decision and was named the IBF super-bantamweight titleholder. In what was hailed as the fight of the year, Carl fought for his second title two years later, this time in the super featherweight class. Going against Santa Cruz at the Barclays Centre, New York, Carl defeated him in a twelve round majority and become the WBA (Super) Featherweight Champion, his second weight division achievement.

Equally prominent outside of world title fights, Carl enjoyed one of the most successful amateur careers of any Irish boxers having started in the sport aged 11, and winning more than 100 fights before turning professional in 2009. Throughout his career, Carl has amassed some enviable stats including 28 wins for 30 fights, and 16 wins by knockout. Carl held both the Commonwealth and European titles between 2011 and 2014 in the super-bantamweight and secured a world ranking of fourth for super-featherweight and fifth for featherweight, a testament to his international significance in the sport.

Earning the award of Fighter of the Year from three organisations, including The Ring, Carl is seen as a legend of boxing. Showing no signs of slowing down, he has ambitions of a third weight class championship.
