Amy Robbins is a talented actress who has graced our screens for over three decades. Best known for her role on ‘The Royal’, Amy Robbins starred as Dr. Jill Weatherill in all eight of the show’s series. Set in the 1960s, the programme follows the lives of the staff and patients at St. Aidan’s Royal Free Hospital. In series four, Amy married Dr Gordon Ormerod, who is also her off-screen husband. As a popular character on the show, Amy was snapped up for other series’ once the show was cancelled in 2001. Other credit for Amy include: Heartbeat, Eastenders, Holby City and Doctors.
Prior to joining the cast of The Royal, Amy trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) where she honed her skills. One of her earlier roles, after completing her training at the prestigious school, was a police sergeant Rachel James in BBC One’s Casualty. Additionally, Rachel’s on-screen abilities secured her casting in the BAFTA award-winning film ‘My Beautiful Son’ where she performed alongside Julie Walters. As part of her involvement with RADA Amy played Lady Capulet in 2011 in a show for the Queen at Bucking Palace.
Not limited to the small, and big, screen, Amy Robbins has had great success in treading the boards of some of the country’s most iconic theatres. From the role of Mrs. Johnson in Blood Brothers at London’s Pheonix Theatre to Titania in Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton, she has played some of theatre's most well-known characters with aplomb. Most recently she joined the touring production of Rehearsal for Murder in 2016 and a year later, joined the cast of popular soap; Hollyoaks.
