Alice Tai is an eight-time World Champion, 3x Paralympic gold medallist, six-time European Champion and a Commonwealth Games winner. Her medal haul, along with six world records makes her one of the world’s best swimmers. She also has several awards including becoming the first para-athlete to be named British Swimming’s Athlete of the Year. Missing the 2020 Paralympics due to injury Alice covered the games as a pundit for Channel 4. Away from Swimming she plays several instruments and is in a band. Available to hire as a speaker, Alice has an inspirational story to tell and will have any audience engaged for the whole event. She is also perfect for any organisation looking for a discussion on what is needed to succeed at the very top.
Alice burst onto the scene at the age of 15 as she claimed three medals at the European Championships, including a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay. A year later she was a 4x100m Medley Relay World Champion and took another three bronze medals at the IPC Swimming World Championships in Glasgow. Her relay success continued as alongside teammates Claire Cashmore, Steph Slater, and Stephanie Millward, she won Paralympic gold at the Rio Games in the 4x100m Medley Relay. In the individual events, she became a two-time Paralympic medallist as she won bronze in the 100m Backstroke. She won gold and silver medals at the Commonwealth Games at the start of 2018 before she added four European Championship gold medals to her collection. To go with her impressive medal haul she also set a World Record in the 100m Freestyle. Alice delivered an impressive performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, claiming two Gold, one Silver and two Bronze Paralympic medals.
She continued her fantastic form into 2019 and put in an outstanding performance on home soil as she won seven gold medals at the World Para Swimming Championships. Alice also set another five world records, and a European record as she geared up for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020. Her performances in 2019 saw her earn multiple accolades including The Sunday Times Disability Sports Woman of the Year, Sports Journalist Awards Best Achievement in Para Sport and was nominated for the Laureus Sports Awards Disability category. She also made history by becoming the first para-athlete to be named British Swimming’s Athlete of the Year. Unfortunately, she had to pull out of the 2020 Paralympics due to injury but was still involved as a pundit for Channel 4.
Available to hire as a speaker Alice is perfect for any sports audience having competed across the world at the very highest level. Her time at the top of world swimming also makes her a fantastic choice for any organisation that is looking to inspire its employees and host an event on high performance.
