While she was completing her PhD, she worked as an independent consultant, writer, and researcher in e-democracy and online engagement for governments, non-profits, and organisations. Further positions that Alexandra has held include Session Lecturer (Political Science) at University of British Columbia, Principal at Social Signal, Director of Social & Interactive Media Centre at Emily Carr Institute, and Vice President of Social Media at Vision Critical.
Also among her career highlights, Alexandra authored Work Smarter with Social Media (2015) and co-authored Remote Inc.
