Theo Priestley

Theo Priestley is a leading game writer & narrative designer for a live service video game. As a former tech futurist, Theo shifted his focus to the creative industries, currently involved in game and fiction writing, mentoring young professionals and advising organisations with community initiatives revolving around gaming.

Back in 2013, Theo began his career in the emerging tech sphere as the Chief Technology Evangelist for Software AG. He then served as Interim CEO of Cronycle, a Global Product Evangelist for SAP and as a Startup Mentor for Alchemist Accelerator and HTC Live, before co-founding and acting as CEO of Metanomic, providing end-to-end game economy infrastructure for video games, metaverse worlds and web3, laying strong foundations for the progression of his career today. Other prominent roles of Theo’s have included being Head of Studio for RawShark Studios and Vice President of FutureOn. In 2023, he decided to leave the world of technology behind and use his knowledge for creativity, taking on the position of creative consultant for an AAA live service video game, and moving to narrative designer in 2025. He is a Games Designer and Writer for Origin Story Games, a Narrative Designer and Game Writer for Star Wars Genesis, and is currently the fiction and lore writer for a well-known fantasy series. He also serves as an advisor for Fate and Fortune CIC and a mentor for Limit Break Mentorship. 

Before his career shift, Theo authored 'The Future Starts Now' in 2019 to share his knowledge on AI and the future of work. Upon changing the direction of his passions, he published 'Writer's Block and Other Tales of the Unexpected', a collection of 21 dark and twisted short horror stories. A former Contributing Writer for VentureBeat, Business 2 Community, Chase Publishing Ltd, WIRED, Forbes and the Huffington Post, Theo's breadth of experience helps to inform his creative ventures today. He has also acted as a Guest Lecturer for Columbia University School of Professional Studies. 

Now focused on the creation of immersive worlds, character dialogue, and narrative design, Theo is a highly sought-after speaker on breaking into the games industry. He has previously given a TED talk and has delivered keynotes to global companies such as Deloitte, Siemens, Bosch, SAP, and Hewlett-Packard. In 2025, Theo spoke at Southern Regional College to share his unconventional journey into the games industry and offered actionable advice to students on scriptwriting, engagement, networking, and pitching.
