With a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from The American University in Cairo in 1996, along with later completing executive education in Strategic Thinking from the IMD Business School in 2019 and The Economics of Mutuality from the University of Oxford in 2021, he has built extensive expertise. In 2001, Fadi started his career in marketing at Henkel, where he progressed from Assistant Brand Manager to Brand Manager. Joining Mars in 2004 enabled him to gain a truly global perspective shaped by a multicultural background and citizenship, working across Canada, Egypt, Lebanon, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. This lived experience across diverse markets allows him to connect naturally with audiences across geographies, translating complex ideas into practical insights that resonate regardless of regional dynamics.
Earlier in his career, as Regional General Manager for Egypt and Levant, Fadi held full P&L accountability across 10 markets and held a 1000+ person organisation through extreme volatility such as political upheaval, economic crisis and currency devaluation. During this period, he quadrupled the business whilst building resilient teams and sustaining high engagement despite the prolonged uncertainty. Fadi played a founding role in shaping the strategy and operating model for Mars' Global Emerging Markets organisation, leading him to serve as Regional Vice President for Global and Commercial. He has led a $3B business across more than 140 markets spanning 6 continents. His experience delivering significant growth through integrated sales, marketing and digital transformation shapes his perspective on leading through adversity and navigating complexity.
Alongside business leadership, Fadi has been an active contributor to executive education and industry dialogue, including the Growth Leader Accelerator programme in partnership with Accenture. Additionally, his knowledge has been shared across media as he has been featured in various publications, including Performance Marketing World, International Confectionery and Confectionery News. During a recent discussion, Fadi Abi-Nader described how traditional retail expansion often fails to scale efficiently across fragmented or lower-density regions. The economics of physical coverage do not justify the investment required to reach all potential consumers. “For big companies to cover all these stores, the cost doesn’t justify the return.” On-demand delivery introduces a different model. Instead of expanding physical presence, companies can centralize inventory and rely on high-speed delivery networks to reach consumers across both urban and rural areas. In some markets, this infrastructure is already operating at a level of efficiency that significantly alters access. “In India you can get products in seven to eight minutes.” The consequence is a shift in how availability is defined.
