Grace Rose Gwynne

Grace Rose Gwynne is an award-winning family barrister, legal expert, broadcaster, podcaster and keynote speaker who challenges convention with authority and warmth. Called to the Bar at 21, one of her defining achievement is becoming the inaugural Junior Barrister of the Year at the prestigious Birmingham Law Society Legal Awards in 2024.

The first person in her family to attend university, Grace built her career through ability, persistence and a willingness to enter spaces where few people shared her age or background. Before pursuing law, she enjoyed a successful performing arts career, appearing in Coronation Street and Emmerdale and performing in theatrical productions of Scrooge and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. She later completed a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Manchester, followed by the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP University Birmingham. During her studies, she sought experience at respected sets including Doughty Street Chambers, St Philips Chambers, St Ives Chambers and Kings Chambers. Grace also completed placements with Anderson Trial Lawyers and Tomeo Sills, gaining overseas experience in criminal defence and personal injury law in Connecticut. Roles with ITV Studios and Gateley Plc broadened her commercial and communication skills before she began pupillage at KBG Chambers. 

Grace was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017, aged just 21, making her one of the youngest barristers in the country. She joined No5 Barristers’ Chambers in 2020, where she specialises in family law, personal injury and clinical negligence. Her advocacy and contribution to the profession led to her receiving the 2024 Junior Barrister of the Year Award, the first award of its kind presented by Birmingham Law Society. Grace has since been recognised by The Legal 500 as a Leading Junior for family work involving children and domestic abuse, with professional feedback praising her courtroom strength, client skills and ability to focus on the central issues. Alongside her legal practice, Grace has developed a growing broadcasting career. She is a legal expert on BBC One’s Rip Off Britain, co-hosted Crime + Investigation’s Courtroom Drama podcast and contributed to Anatomy of a Stalker, examining the realities and limitations of stalking law. She has appeared on Good Morning Britain and Jeremy Vine, delivered the TEDx talk 'Fighting for a Place in the Old Boys’ Club', and appeared alongside GK Barry as a legal expert in a BBC Three documentary. She is also due to feature in a new documentary series for a major broadcaster.
