Dr Audrey Allwood is a multi-talented and diverse leading British Anthropologist, researcher and author, currently lecturing at Goldsmiths University of London. Audrey blends her academic background, expertise in the experience of Caribbean migrants in Britain, and the legacy of their contribution to everyday life, with decades of experience working with various high-profile clients such as Vodafone, eBay, British Land, The National Trust, the Institute of Accountants, Bath University and more.
In academia, Dr Audrey’s research is particularly focused on well-being, belonging, and examining the impact of Caribbean migrants on British culture. In 2018, she delivered a collaborative project with Goldsmith University on Caribbean Mothering, covering intergenerational exchange and social adaptation. In the same year, she contributed to ABC radio’s programme on Caribbean migration in Brixton, covering gentrification and social change. Her work in mental health has seen her become certified to teach mindful meditation and offer stress management workshops throughout communities. In 2025, she created a coaching programme workbook, 'Walk With Audrey', which was piloted with Certitude - the national mental health organisation - in a key London area, and utilised as an influential personal development communication tool.
Her research into migration and British life and culture has culminated in a variety of publications, including the article 'Belonging in Britain: black older people's experiences of a sheltered housing scheme in London', 'Housing, Care and Support', and her first monograph book, 'Belonging in Britain: An enthnography of Migrant West Indian Elders in Brixton, London'. Through a community-based project with the help of organisations such as AgeUK, Audrey published a collection of oral stories of tradespeople workers in 2021, 'Windrush Generations Trades People: 12 Stories'.
When booked as a speaker, Dr Audrey is able to cover a range of topics from Windrush and Generations, Mental Health and Well-being, to Strategic Planning and Change Management. Her wealth of experience and knowledge has led to her delivering talks at the Home Office Windrush Day celebration and for Blueprint for All within Black History Month in 2021. With great depth and clarity, she has also delivered a report for the Croydon BME Forum. Dr Audrey Allwood's career in the public sector has made her a fascinating and insightful speaker on a multitude of subjects, such as housing, homelessness, mental health, poverty and the environment.
