James Boyd is a world class concert guitarist and speaker with a passion for the art of learning. A few years ago he experienced the collapse of his concert career due to repetitive strain and habits of use that had built up over years. He had to rethink his entire approach to learning and in so doing discovered principles that transformed his playing and put him back on the concert stage. Now, alongside his concert career James teaches others his unique system of learning. Hundreds of clients in the performing arts, education and in business have benefited from his expertise.
James’ training sessions are tailored to the individual needs of businesses, schools and individuals. Events usually begin with thought provoking activities and the story of his personal journey. Obstacles to learning are identified through discussion. Participants are encouraged to experience a new way of learning, testing the practicality of James’ ideas through further hands on experiences ranging from martial arts experiments to slacklining. They learn that these principles are transferrable and can be applied in many areas of learning and performance. In an atmosphere of playful curiosity James transforms attitudes to learning. Clients often talk of having had a profound experience. They leave with a toolkit of principles and techniques that can increase their productivity, accuracy and creativity and they learn the art of performing well under pressure. Young students through to teachers and CEO’s of elite businesses have benefited from James’ knowledge and his engaging style of delivery.

“James is a master-craftsman. As keynote speaker at Framlingham college he captured the imaginations of every delegate at the Conference. They commented on his contribution in their lives as being truly transformational.” – Brynn Bayman – Framlingham College
“James was excellent for a retreat. He is unusual without being wacky and approaches thoughts and actions in a unique way. James is a genius international guitarist and brings hislearnings and observations to members in a totally interactive way. He took members on a journey of being aware of themselves and what they are doing. To reflect on what they have learnt and what they can do better. He did this with juggling balls, rope knots and slack line walking amongst other things. He is a great choice for a retreat.” – Paul Adlam, Vistage
“The wizard guitarist James Boyd held us enthralled” – The Times
