Celebrity chef and wine expert Joe Wadsack is known for his various television appearances and contributions to a number of culinary publications, he has worked as a judge at international wine festivals and cultivated his own wines for some of the UK’s biggest retailers and wineries.
Previously a pilot in the Royal Air Force Joe Wadsack studied Chemistry at Manchester University through a full university cadetship. The son of a pub owner and Chef Joe Wadsack was drawn back to his childhood love of cooking after several years at the RAF and, upon leaving the forces, travelled to Bordeaux to study wine making. These qualifications led him to the UK based off-license, Oddbins, where he used his new found wine knowledge to complement the already impressive skills of his chef father, making his parent’s once humble gastro-pub a national award winner.
Now successfully partnering his love of food with his interest in wine Joe Wadsack was well on his way to becoming a renowned celebrity chef. Impressed by his experience and passion retail giant Sainsbury’s employed Joe to develop a company wide training course for their in-store advisors that covered not only wine but also beer and spirits. Similarly drawn by his rising stardom Waitrose head-hunted Wadsack and employed him as one of their chief wine buyers for five years until he left the group to pursue his television celebrity chef career.
Joe Wadsack made his first appearance on television alongside fellow celebrity chef Kitty Johnson: Great Wine Walks. A notable success Joe moved on from Great Wine Walks to Saturday Kitchen and the coverage of the national food festival, Great Food Live, to which he still contributes. Alongside his work as a celebrity chef Joe Wadsack has used his experience as a wine buyer and critic to launch the marketing company Cube Communications, which won Wine PR Company of the Year at the Drinks Business Awards 3 years in a row.
Joe’s status as a respected chef and wine expert has also lead to a number of publication and writing deals, including employment as the wine columnist for the Sunday Express as well as regularly contributing to Waitrose’s Food Illustrated and Red Magazine.
