Seth Godin is one of the leading marketing thought leaders in the 21st century. A best-selling author of 14 books, he is also an entrepreneur, blogger, and Founder of the Carbon Almanac a powerful tool to help create change. He has been referred to as America’s Greatest Marketer by American Way Magazine and is a specialist in several topics including dissemination of ideas, post-industrial revolution, marketing, quitting, leadership, and change. Recently he was selected as one of the 21 Speakers for the Next Century by Successful Meetings.
After finishing his MBA from the prestigious Stanford University, Seth worked as a Brand Manager for Spinnaker Software, followed by a role as an Independent Developer for Prodigy. During the same period, he founded Seth Godin Productions using $20,000 of his savings and his studio flat in New York. After 36 years the business continues to prosper with leading clients such as AOL, Microsoft, Penguin Random House, and Simon & Schuster among others. He went on to launch another business in 1989 with Max Hurst called Yoyodyne, which he sold to Yahoo for $30 million in 1998. He then became the Vice President of Direct Marketing at Yahoo before moving on to launch Do You Zoom.
A serial entrepreneur, Seth continues to launch companies, some of which have failed and others which have prospered. He founded Squidoo in 2003 which was considered a pioneer in content building and at its peak reached number 40 on the most visited website in the US. It was acquired by its competitor Hubpages in 2012. Known as the Entrepreneur for the Information Age by Business Week, Seth presently writes one of the most popular blogs in the world which was named by Time among its 25 Best Blogs for 2009.
In addition to his podcast Akimbo, Seth has authored many bestselling books which have been translated into 40 languages. His book Free Prize Inside was a Forbes Business Book of the Year in 2004, The Dip was a Business Week, and a New York Times bestseller and Linchpin was named in the top 20 best books by the most influential thinkers in business in 2015. Seth was inducted into the American Marketing Association’s Marketing Hall of Fame in 2018. He is an exceptionally knowledgeable and highly articulate speaker in marketing and has given talks for TED and other prestigious institutions.
