Miles Jupp is an actor, British comedian and comedy writer who rose to fame in 2000 after kick-starting his stand-up comedy career in Scotland. The winner of So You Think You’re Funny and the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year in 2001 he has since become a regular guest on BBC Scotland’s Live Floor Show and was nominated for a Perrier Award for his first Edinburgh Festival Show, Gentleman Prefer Brogues.

As a stand-up comedy writer and comedian Miles Jupp has contributed to a number of prominent BBC Radio 4 shows including The News Quiz, The Vote Now Show and Loose Ends; thanks to the success of these shows Miles Jupp was given his own dedicated series, Miles Jupp’s Real World, which also starred fellow Scottish comedian Frankie Boyle. Miles’ success only grew from here, in 2005 his second Edinburgh Festival Show, Young Man in a Huff was met with critical acclaim and he then embarked on a series for BBC Radio 7, entitled Newsjack.

Miles Jupp’s stand-up comedy career has only continued to improve, numerous gigs as both supporting comedian and lead act have seen Jupp tour across the UK, several more popular shows at the Edinburgh Festival and two series of a comedy-commentary podcast for The Guardian newspaper.

Outside his work as a comedian Miles Jupp has established himself as a respectable actor, he has appeared in roles in a number of TV series including Lip Service and the Thick of It. He has also showcased his skills as an actor in a number of feature films, the long list of which includes the final Harry Potter movie, Made in Dagenham, Johnny English Reborn and Is Anybody There?

Jupp has turned his voice skills to narration and contributed to four series of the massive BBC children’s show Balamory, as well as appearing in two Stewart Lee plays alongside fellow comedian Simon Munnery. He has made guest and panellist appearances on both radio and television, appearing as a comedian on The News Quiz, Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Outside his work as both an actor as in comedy for the BBC Miles Jupp has appeared on Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats and was applauded for his performance in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg at the Citizen’s Theatre in Glasgow.
