Having graduated from Lancaster University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography and an MSc in European Environmental Policy and Regulation, Martin began his decorated career working as an Environmental Consultant for Casella Environmental. In this versatile consultancy role, Martin was responsible for creating and implementing environmental management systems and environmental audits. Spending four years with Casella Environmental, Martin later moved on to work as an Associate of CIRIA – a role in which he was responsible for managing a portfolio of projects surrounding sustainable construction, also working as the Manager of the Construction Industry Environmental Forum. Martin initially joined Forum for the Future in 2005, acting as a member of the Energy & Built Environment Team.
As a senior member of Forum for the Future’s Energy team, Martin's duties now lie in driving strategic advisory work with a variety of partners across sectors of construction, energy and property. Nurturing collaborative action and coalitions, Martin is an expert in crafting sustainability strategies using future techniques such as trend analysis, scenarios and visioning to map the way to a more sustainable future. In addition to his work with the Forum for the Future, Martin has previously worked as a Trustee of the London Sustainability Exchange – a charity dedicated to reducing London’s environmental footprint, improving the health of Londoners, improving the lives of disadvantaged people in London and improving knowledge and skills.
