Gary Foote is a Formula 1 Chief Information Officer and internationally respected keynote speaker, best known for contributing to six FIA Formula One World Championship titles. Gary currently serves as Chief Information Officer at Haas F1 Team, where he leads digital, IT, operations, facilities and ESG across multiple international sites. Gary’s journey began with a BSc in Computer Science with Networks from the University of Derby, before entering the fast paced world of trackside engineering with Cosworth Technology in 2005. Supporting the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, he developed deep expertise in live race systems, resilience and technical delivery under pressure. He moved to Honda Racing F1 and then to Brawn GP as a Senior Technical Systems Engineer, where he played a part in the team’s 2009 FIA Formula One World Championship victory. Those early years spent travelling globally and solving problems in high stakes environments, shaped Gary’s belief that marginal gains, trust and clarity of purpose drive sustained performance.
In 2011, Gary joined Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Limited, progressing through senior IT leadership roles and contributing to consecutive championship successes. His career accelerated further in 2016 when he became Chief Information Officer at Haas F1 Team, taking responsibility for global technology strategy, digital transformation and operational excellence across the UK, US and Italy. Alongside his executive remit, he is a Trustee and Non-Executive Director at Tove Learning Trust, advising on governance, risk and long term strategy across primary and secondary education. Gary was elected a Fellow of the British Computing Society and has been recognised as one of the UK’s Top 100 CIOs for five consecutive years from 2021 to 2025, reflecting his influence beyond motorsport. Across his career, he has contributed to six FIA Formula One World Championship titles, an achievement few technology leaders can claim.
