Craig Parkinson is a talented and successful actor and podcaster who is best known for playing the role of DI Matthew “Dot” Cottan in BBC 2’s ‘Line of Duty’. Over his 20-year career, Craig has played lead parts in several acclaimed TV series. As a keynote speaker Craig offers Q&As and fireside chats, where he gives an insight to his life as an actor including anecdotes and first hand experiences.
In his early career, Craig debuted his acting career through the theatre, before making an appearance in his first TV show, BBC Crime Drama Dalziel and Pascoe, for one episode. Following this, Craig has starred in a plethora of TV shows including The Bill and Holby City in his earlier career. He then broke into the world of film, starring in Control and Virgin Territory. Craig starred in the independent film, The Taxidermist where he played the Taxidermist, this film went on to win awards. One being, Rhode Island International Horror Film Festival ‘Best Short Film’. Another prominent role for Craig was in Misfits, where he played probation worker Shaun. Misfits also won awards, a notable one being the British Academy Television Award for Best Drama Series.
More recently, Craig starred in the long running series, Line of Duty. Throughout the six series, Craig’s character underwent huge character development and the show ended up breaking records and becoming BBC 2’s highest rated drama in the channels history. Craig also played a role in Black Mirror’s stand-alone film, Bandersnatch. This film won two Emmy awards, one of which being the Outstanding Television Movie. In 2017 Craig began hosting his podcast, the Two Shot Podcast, of which episodes would typically feature interviews with actors. Craig’s podcast won Best Culture Podcast at the British Podcast Awards and is now sometimes recorded at live events. He has also hosted the “Obsessed with… Line of Duty” podcast for series six of Line of Duty on BBC Sounds.
Having recently featured in BBC’S Everything I Know About Love and Doctor Who, and starring in ITV’s Grace, Craig is still very much excelling in his career.
