Scott Mills has been in the spotlight from a young age, starting his career as a DJ at the youthful age of 16. Hampshire’s Power FM gave Scott the opportunity to present shows for a week on the station, allocating him the ‘graveyard’ slot from 1 AM to 6 AM. Being only 16 years old granted him the title of being the youngest presenter on mainstream commercial radio. From that point on Scott's career has flourished, where he now finds himself presenting on BBC Radio 1. 1998 was the year that Scott joined BBC Radio 1, since then he has steadily built up to the primetime slot that he now holds. He began maternity cover for Sara Cox, who didn’t return, and so the slot became The Scott Mills Show. Alongside presenting his show, Scott also does cover work over on BBC Radio 2.
Being a DJ is not the only claim to fame that Scott holds. He has starred in both Casualty, playing a reporter named Paul Lang, and River City playing a cameo role after praising the show on his radio slot. Mills is also the star of voice over roles, including the in-store Homebase FM and the Blockbuster infomercial. Additionally, Scott has turned his hand to commentary, featuring as the Eurovision 2019 finals UK commentator. Mills is highly valued by his listeners. In May 2009 Scott Mills: The Musical was announced, which was suggested by his listeners.
Scott also takes part in occasional charity events. In 2011 he took part in a trek to the Kaisut Desert in North Kenya, which was run by BT for 2011 Comic Relief. Scott’s hard work and commitment to being a DJ and radio host has been acknowledged. In 2005 he won the Loaded Laftas Funniest DJ award. Scott continued to win more awards as his career progressed, winning the Sony Radio Academy Awards Music Radio Personality of the Year Gold award in 2010. A year later, in 2011, he went on to win the Stonewall awards Broadcast of the Year award. Scott’s dedication to radio over the years shows that he is both a loyal and committed person, giving him great qualities for events. Scott is very in demand, having performed at a number of events in the past and many future scheduled events.
