Rehan Staton is a recent graduate of Harvard Law School and is the Founder and Chair of The Reciprocity Effect. He now also dedicates his time to delivering speaking engagements where he combines personal narrative, emotional intelligence, and purpose driven strategy.
Rehan’s story is a remarkable example of resilience and compassion. He faced profound adversity as a child, with his mother leaving at the age of 8, and the rest of the family dealing with house instability and financial hardship. Rehan struggled academically, leaving him with a low GPA and no college acceptances, leading him to take a job with Bates Trucking and Trash Removal. Rehan managed to earn admission to Bowie State University before transferring to the University of Maryland. After more setbacks of ill health, Rehan eventually got accepted into Harvard Law School in 2020. His hard work had paid off, and his emotional reaction to the acceptance video went viral and was seen by Tyler Perry who was particularly moved by his story, and personally paid for his Harvard tuition. During his time at Harvard, he founded The Reciprocity Effect to support often-overlooked individuals. Through this initiative, he raised funds over $70,000. After graduating Harvard, he joined a New York law firm as a clerk, and continues to expand The Reciprocity Effect. He is also currently working with organisations like the NBPA, MLB, and World Boxing Council. To date his work has been featured by Good Morning America, The Washington Post, ABC News and more.
