His most notable achievement is earning two Michelin stars for Pétrus, placing him among Britain’s culinary elite. Marcus’s journey into food began in childhood, working alongside his father, a fruit and potato merchant in Southport, Lancashire. At 18, he joined The Savoy Hotel as a commis chef under Anton Edelmann, before moving to Le Gavroche, where he met Gordon Ramsay, sparking a 15-year professional relationship. Marcus was soon working as Sous Chef at Aubergine, and at just 25, became Head Chef at L’Oranger, where he earned his first Michelin star.
Throughout his career, Marcus has gained numerous accolades. He co-founded Pétrus, where he earned its first Michelin star within seven months, and a second Michelin star in 2007. In 2003, he was named ‘Chef of the Year’ at the prestigious Catey Awards and later, GQ’s ‘Chef of the Year’ in 2009. After parting ways with Gordon Ramsay Holdings, Marcus opened Marcus Wareing at The Berkeley, later rebranded as Marcus, which maintained a Michelin star until its closure in 2023. He also launched successful ventures such as The Gilbert Scott and Tredwells, and his influence extends to the small screen with programmes like Marcus Wareing’s Tales from a Kitchen Garden on BBC Two.
Audiences hire Marcus for his expertise in culinary excellence, entrepreneurship, resilience, and leadership. He discusses the highs and lows of running elite restaurants, building a brand, and evolving in a rapidly changing industry. With a growing focus on sustainability and personal transformation, Marcus also speaks powerfully on adapting to new lifestyles, self-sufficiency, and mental resilience.
