Dean McCullough is a Northern Irish television and radio presenter best known for his work on BBC Radio 1 and his engaging on-air personality. Since breaking into broadcasting, Dean has become one of the UK's rising radio stars, recognised for his humour, warmth and ability to connect with audiences. Alongside his successful radio career, he has become a familiar face on television through appearances on major entertainment programmes and live companion shows. Named 'Top LGBTQ+ Broadcaster' by Attitude magazine, Dean is hired as an event host, awards presenter, broadcaster and corporate facilitator, bringing infectious energy and professionalism to every engagement.
Dean began his broadcasting career volunteering at Wandsworth Radio before securing his first professional presenting role at Gaydio in 2018, where he co-hosted programmes focusing on LGBTQ+ issues alongside Emma Goswell. His talent soon caught the attention of BBC Radio 1, leading to guest presenting opportunities before he joined the station permanently in 2021. In 2022, Dean and Vicky Hawkesworth became the new hosts of Radio 1's weekday afternoon programme, replacing Scott Mills and Chris Stark and making history as the station's first weekday show to broadcast from Salford rather than London. In 2024, he moved to present Radio 1's Early Breakfast Show while also hosting editions of 'Pop Anthems'.
Alongside his radio success, Dean has continued to build an impressive television career. He has become a regular panellist on Big Brother: Late & Live and reached a wider audience after competing on ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2024. Away from broadcasting, Dean has been recognised as one of Britain's leading LGBTQ+ media personalities, earning Attitude magazine's 'Top LGBTQ+ Broadcaster' accolade. His openness about his personal journey and sobriety has also made him an inspiring voice both on and off the air.
Dean's natural charisma, quick wit and years of live broadcasting make him an outstanding choice for awards ceremonies, corporate events and live entertainment. Audiences know him from The Chris Moyles Show as a guest presenter, BBC Radio 1, Big Brother: Late & Live and I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, while his experience interviewing celebrities, presenting live radio and fronting major television productions enables him to adapt effortlessly to any audience. Combining humour, authenticity and confidence, Dean brings an engaging and contemporary style that ensures every event is memorable.
