Aled Davies OBE is a London 2012, Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Gold medal winner, having claimed medals across the Shot Put and Discus events. Davies has also smashed the world record for the shot put on route to his medal haul. His efforts during the games and in 2013 led to him being awarded an MBE before receiving an OBE in 2022, proving a testament to his amazing performance. As a Paralympic or sports speaker, Aled gives audience members an insight into the endless training and commitment needed to perform at the highest levels of sport. Despite being born without complete use of his right leg, Aled has continued to follow his dreams by competing in pretty much every sport as a child. This battle against adversity and the odds have paid off, and his story is one to behold.
Happy to talk about his experiences and his battles, Davies is an ideal candidate as a Paralympic speaker for events, intriguing audience members. Born with fibular hemimelia in his right leg, Davies now wears a prosthetic and is the current F42 world record holder for the shot put. A master of both the discus and shot put events, he regularly finds himself on the podium, a fact reinforced at the 2012 games. Throwing a European record in his final attempt with the discus at London 2012, despite already having the gold assured, Davies has continued the domination of his events after securing double gold during the 2013 IPC World Championships. Most recently, after their postponement due to COVID-19, Aled competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, at which he claimed Paralympic Gold in the F63 Shot Put. At the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, Aled added to his medal tally with a Silver in the Shot Put F63.
Aled became the face of Paralympic sport after his London 2012 endeavours, continuously being in demand within the event and Olympic speaker circuit. A champion Paralympian, Aled offers a very candid insight into the daily struggles he would face as a youngster, as well as explaining how the world of Paralympic sport has developed and changed into something previously thought impossible. When looking for an inspirational Paralympian to speak at your next event, don't hesitate in booking champion discus and shot put thrower, Aled Davies.
