Ray Eitel-Porter is a globally recognised keynote speaker, AI governance expert and business leader, best known as former Global Head of Responsible AI at Accenture. A trusted voice on artificial intelligence ethics, safety and regulation, Ray has built a reputation for helping organisations navigate one of the most complex challenges of the modern era. Among his most notable achievements is the design and implementation of one of the first large-scale AI compliance programmes, spanning 750,000 employees across 120 countries, firmly establishing him as a pioneer in responsible AI.
Ray’s early career reflects a strong academic foundation combined with commercial ambition. He studied at Christ Church, Oxford, earning a Master of Arts in Modern Languages, before completing an MBA at INSEAD, where he developed his strategic business expertise. Ray began his professional journey in consulting, joining L.E.K. Consulting and rising to become Managing Director of the German office, gaining extensive international leadership experience. He later moved into entrepreneurship as CEO of On Board Info, a software start-up focused on digital calendar innovation. These formative roles shaped Ray’s ability to connect technical innovation with business value, a defining trait in his later work within AI governance.
Throughout his career, Ray has held a number of influential leadership roles that have positioned him at the forefront of artificial intelligence strategy and policy. At Accenture, he served as Managing Director of Applied Intelligence for the UK and Ireland before stepping into the global role of Global Head of Responsible AI, where he led the development of ethical AI frameworks at scale. He also chaired the UK Government’s Data Skills Taskforce, contributing to national policy on data capability and education. In addition, Ray led strategic collaborations with leading institutions including the Alan Turing Institute and has worked alongside organisations such as Stanford, MIT and Oxford. In 2024, he founded Lumyz Advisory, an independent consultancy dedicated to AI risk and governance, and continues his academic work as a Senior Research Associate at the Intellectual Forum, Jesus College, Cambridge. His forthcoming book, ‘In Machines We Trust’, is expected to become a defining contribution to the field.
