Judson Berkey

A leading voice on climate change, Judson Berkey is the Global Head of Sustainability Regulatory Strategy at UBS, where he engages with political and corporate figures on sustainable financial topics. Judson has spent two decades working with the Swiss investment bank, cultivating a globally renowned reputation for his management, strategy and knowledge of corporate development.

First joining UBS in 2003, Judson was appointed a Managing Director in Operational Risk. He was an architect of the Operational Risk Framework and Operational Risk Application, an achievement that led him to become the Group Too Big to Fail Program’s Managing Director in 2011.

Judson later developed global resolution strategies and oversaw corporate development. In 2013, he was named MD of Regulatory Strategy and Initiatives, Head of Regulatory Affairs in 2016 and finally in 2019, Head of Sustainability Regulatory Strategy.

For over 18 years, Judson has worked with global policymakers, trade associations, regulators and teams in Switzerland, UK, Hong Kong and Germany. A true revolutionary in the financial sector, he has vast experience of emerging legal and regulatory issues from several industries, like agriculture and electronic commerce.

Before joining UBS, Judson worked as a Policy Analyst at the Institute of International Finance and an Attorney at Arent Fox. Such experiences honed Judson’s understanding of trade regulations, operational risk and financial projects on renewable energy alternatives. Sustainability has been an ongoing drive for Judson, defining his career since 1998. Today, he is a leading speaker on renewable energy and corporate responsibility, from the perspective of a legal, finance and business expert.

Judson is a graduate of Harvard Law School and the University of Virginia, a reflection of his vast academic understanding.
