Cybersecurity expert, Jacob Riggs is transferring his industry experience into leading security tools that support the online community. Having worked for business giants like John Lewis and The Guardian, Jacob is recognised as a trusted authority in all aspects of digital security, including ethical hacking, threat intelligence and information security management. Spearheading his own ventures also ensures Jacob has a unique insight into corporate security needs, making his contributions as a speaker further relevant and valuable. When presenting at events, Jacob shares the essential requirements for futureproofed digital safety, and the strategies to successfully achieve them.
Driven by his passion to protect online users and businesses, Jacob has built three security tools that serve the digital needs of others. First founding Deadswitch in 2017, Jacob developed a tool that protects people and data by encrypting data on websites which has an automatic release trigger timer that will allow certain users to view the information. Since, Jacob has created Subject Access which focuses on individual GDPR access rights and Fobber, an RFID key cloning device. Completing such work in his ‘spare’ time, Jacob’s commitment to the digital community and his personal development and understanding is remarkable and has led him to become one of the most well-regarded professions in his field.
Starting his security career at John Lewis & Partners as a Security Analyst, Jacob impressed with his passion for protecting online users and serviced the brand’s digital sector for 3.5 years. Proving an invaluable expert to businesses, Jacob later acted as a Cyber Security Analyst for Charityshare through which he supported several leading charities in identifying security weaknesses and improving their security posture, a service he most recently completed for Guardian News & media. Backed by his extensive list of cyber qualifications, including Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator and Certified Network Defence Architect, Jacob is at the forefront of digital security.
Currently, Jacob is a full-time security specialist in which part of his time is dedicated to highlighting security weaknesses to global businesses. Jacob’s previous clients include Google, Facebook and the UK Government, all of which he has provided a vulnerability disclosure for as an ethical hacker, allowing them to improve their digital security. As a speaker, Jacob draws on such experience to raise awareness of modern security threats, and the solutions to tackle them on an individual and corporate-wide level.
