A preeminent figure in the motorsports industry, Nico Rosberg has enjoyed a fruitful career as a professional racing driver for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport and Williams Racing. Son of Keke Rosberg, Nico has grown up in the fast-paced world of motorsports and followed in the illustrious footsteps of his father. Winner of the 2016 World Drivers Championship, Nico has since retired from professional motorsports racing, and is now focussing his interests on achieving a more sustainable future as a sustainability investor. Starting his illustrious racing career as a go-kart racer, Nico soon proved his prominence as a racer – winning both regional and national French championships. Later progressing to car racing, Nico’s first major victory saw him become the 2002 Formula BMW ADAC Championship winner. Moving into Formula 3 Euro Series, Nico was yet again successful, later winning the GP2 Series Championship in 2005. Nico made his Formula One debut in 2006, racing for Williams Racing, getting on the podium on two occasions. In 2010, Nico moved teams to become a professional racer for Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, racing alongside esteemed driver Michael Schumacher and later Lewis Hamilton. Having competed in 206 Grand Prix and securing 57 podium finishes, Nico announced that he would be retiring from professional motorsport racing in 2016.
Since his retirement, Nico has focused his attentions on sustainability, investments and becoming an entrepreneur. He is currently the manager of a team of 18 dedicated to green technologies and mobility start-ups, fuelling his passions in driving positive change throughout society and sustainable change. As an investor, Nico has supported several successful start-ups, such as Volocopter, Chargepoint, Lilium, Tier and What3Words. Nico is also a shareholder of the Formula-E racing series, along with being the owner and CEO of Rosberg Xtreme Racing – the Formula E team dedicated to combatting the effects of climate change and driving sustainable change. He is also the Founder of the Greentech Festival, and was awarded with the honour of GreenTec Entrepreneur of the Year in 2018.
Most recently, in 2020, Nico has become a Judge on Die Höhle der Löwen, the German version of Dragons’ Den, in which he is committed to businesses that promote sustainable development and start-ups of the future. Also highly sought after as a speaker for events, Nico is regularly sought to share his passions for sustainability, along with anecdotes from his time spent as a professional racing driver.
