In 2004, she was stalked by a dangerous man. However, it was in her next role in a Further Education college where Gina experienced first-hand the detrimental effects of workplace homophobia from her manager. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Gina navigated the pressures and challenges that being LGBTQ+ in the workplace can bring. When she reported the bullying to HR, they told her not to progress the case because it would highlight her sexual orientation to her colleagues and peers. The manager was promoted.
