Ruth Watson

The Hotel Inspector and Country House Rescuer imparts business lessons from the leisure and hospitality industry. Ruth Watson is best known as The Hotel Inspector and more recently as the presenter of Country House Rescue. Ruth and her husband have owned and restored numerous restaurants and hotels around the UK, including launching one of Britain’s first ever gastro pubs.

Her hotel experience brought her to the eye of various publishers. Starting out writing on food, Ruth was asked by friend Delia Smith to be a contributing food editor to Sainsbury’s Magazine. She went on to become food editor of The Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine, for which she twice won Cookery Writer of the Year. She has written three books: The Really Helpful Cookbook, The Slimming Book Fat Girl Slim, and cook book, Something for the Weekend.

Ruth made her move into television on Channel Five‘s The Hotel Inspector. The Royal Television Society Award winning series saw Ruth visit struggling British hotels to try and turn their fortunes in her own direct style, imposing common sense and the lessons of numerous business turnarounds. Since then, Ruth has moved to Channel 4 to explore the commercial development of Britain’s country houses in Country House Rescue and front her own start up show, Ruth Watson’s Hotel Rescue.
