Named Rising Star By Hello Magazine

Its no surprise that Maya Jama has been named a Rising Star for 2016 by Hello Magazine, last year was an amazing year for her. After landing her first big TV job as MTVbase show TheWrapUp host in August 2014, aged just 20 she then went on to host MTVessentials & MTV News. Since then Maya has moved over to 4Music to fine tune her Live TV Skills & host popular shows such as ShoutOuts & Trending Live on a weekly basis.

Maya has also become the face of VEVO’s popular shows VVV & Ones To Watch where she is able to utilise her interviewing skills with talent such as Izzy Bizu, Little Mix, Alessia Cara and Sinead Harnett to name just a few. Maya has also shown her entertaining & fun personality via shows such as CBBC’s Technobabble and FutureSounds on Channel 4. After a brief stint on the breakfast show on RinseFM, Maya now is the popular Drive Time Host (4pm-7pm) where she does a variety of entertaining interviews with the likes of Alesha Dixon, Craig David, Geko, KRUPT FM & many more.

She also hosts live events such as Rinse at Notting Hill Carnival, Rinse at Eastern Electrics festival and broadcasted live from Ibiza for Rinse in September. On top of all this Maya also co-presented Star Rated for Sky channel Trace Sports with Remedy Productions and still found time to set up her own YouTube channel. Her infectious personality and ability to make fun of herself have enabled her to create online comedic content consisting of pranks, comedy sketches and parodies. Maya is also a huge football fan, so hosting The Football Virgin for Copa90’s channel exploring life as a football fan was a dream come true.

She then travelled around Brazil presenting Maya’s World Cup cities with Hyundai for the channel ahead of the competition. She later returned to Brazil during the World Cup to host a second series ‘World Cup Taxi’ also with Hyundai and Copa90. She has worked with various brands such as ASOS, H&M, Thomson, Chambord, Sony, Adidas and Sloggi, and has large social numbers with an engaged audience & over 233k Instagram, 84k on Twitter and over 50k Avg SnapChat views. In summer 2016 Maya became the Social Media Correspondent at Bestival for RedBull. Alongside this she was the presenter for the huge ADE festival Tomorrowland, doing all social content and warm up shows on Facebook, which gathered over 3 million views.

Maya was also the host for the Channel 5 star show, Swipe Right for Sex, bringing her documentary skills to host this exploratory show. 2017 has already proved to be a massive year for Maya. She has done various DJ gigs for the likes of Sleek Makeup and Dr Martins, and she will be hosting the Isle of Wight festival on Sky Arts in June along with the Fresh Island festival in July.

Recently she has done shoots for Sloggi, the Jeans for Genes campaign and Noctis Magazine. Maya has been working closely with the BRITS in 2017, hosting their Pre Brits Party, and hosting a live Facebook stream from the Red Carpet also. Not only has she been to South Africa with Nandos discovering information about the renowned Peri-Peri Chillies, she has also recently been announced as the poolside presenter for ITV’1 new show Cannonball.
