Horticultural expert, Christine Walkden has become highly regarded for her wealth of knowledge on all things outdoors. Best known for her TV series on BBC ‘Christine’s Garden’, Christine was commissioned for her own show after proving her skills as a green fingered gardener. Christine’s Garden showcased the best of her tips and tricks to creating your own garden success, and the programme helped Christine become recognised in the mainstream media. From guest appearances on the live coverage of the famous Chelsea Flower Show, to presenting Gardeners World, Christine’s expertise can be witnessed on some of the most popular gardening programmes. Most recently she has become a regular on prime time TV as the resident expert on The One Show.

Not limited to TV appearances, Christine has also become a popular radio host. As a member of the panel for Gardener’s Question Time on BBC Radio 4 she has become a safe pair of hands when it comes to answering the public’s gardening queries. An unrivalled expert in the field, Christine was the recipient of the Garden Writers’ Guild Radio Broadcasting Award. Additionally, she has published a number of her most useful tips to replicate her garden success in her ‘No-nonsense Vegetable Gardening’ book.

With over forty years as a horticultural expert, Christine has garnered a number of awards which are a testament to her knowledge and skills. In 2014 she was named the TV Gardener of the Year by Amateur Gardening Magazine and was awarded the Most Trusted Celebrity Gardner honour in 2016 at the Great British Growing Awards. For her continued services to gardening education, Christine has been given an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Essex and been made an Honorary Fellow of Myerscough College.
