Carol Smillie is a British television and radio presenter best known for her appearance as one of the designers and hostess of the hit BBC series Changing Rooms. Beginning her career in the public eye as a model Smillie was launched into stardom when she appeared as the TV presenter for ITV’s game show Wheel of Fortune. Becoming an instant success, Carol Smillie was soon employed as the TV presenter for the BBC’s travel and tourism series’ The Travel Show and Holiday, Summer Holiday and Holiday Swaps.
Establishing herself as a great TV presenter of reality TV shows Smillie was eventually enlisted as the host of the BBC’s new DIY series Changing Rooms. Easily the most popular TV presenter on the show Carol Smillie was invited to Buckingham Palace and Downing Street to discuss her work, she was awarded both an India Award and a National TV Award for her work as well as garnering a BAFTA nomination.
Following the success of Changing Rooms, Carol Smillie appeared as the television and radio presenter for a vast number of productions and even became the inspiration for comedienne Ronni Ancona’s alter ego Smillie Carol Smillie. Her more recent TV presenter work includes Dream Holiday for Channel 5, A Brush with Fame for ITV1 and the quiz show Postcode Challenge for STV. Outside her work as a television and radio presenter Carol Smillie took part in the BBC reality series Strictly Come Dancing and also spent three years as the host of The National Lottery.
She has published her own book, Carol Smillie’s Working Mum’s Handbook and pre and post-natal fitness DVD Changing Shape as well as contributing a regular column to Woman’s Own and Perfect Pets for The Sunday Times.
