Sports speaker and radio broadcaster Ken Doherty is an Irish snooker player who currently holds the record of being the only person to win both the amateur and professional World Championships in 1989 and 1997 respectively.

Known for spending almost fifteen years in the top fifteen ranked players in the world Ken Doherty continues to work within the sport both as a snooker speaker and radio presenter, appearing at both live events and as commentator on radio broadcasts.

The highlights of Doherty’s career include his multiple World Cup wins and appearances in the finals of several other World Championship tournaments, during his time as a professional player and snooker speaker Ken Doherty has played against the likes of John Higgins, Matthew Stevens, Paul Hunter and Steven Hendry, whom he beat in his second World Championship victory.

In more recent years Doherty has regained much of the success of his earlier career, beating a number of notable players including Mark Selby; he continues to play in international tournaments and works as a sports speaker across the globe, often tallying his professional career with guest appearances at after dinner speaker events.
