Tom Curry is a professional rugby player who is currently making his way in the game. One of the younger professionals on the circuit, Curry is regarded as being one of the countries most talented players and has a huge future ahead of him. Currently part of the history-making 2019 England World Cup squad, Tom was a key element in England’s successful win against New Zealand, and progression to the finals of the 2019 World Cup in Japan.
Born in 1998, he made his England debut in 2017 aged just 18. He received the Man of the Match award and performed exceptionally well. This was not classed as a test match fixture and therefore meant he had to wait until the game against Argentina to receive his first official cap. Upon making his official debut, Curry became England’s youngest ever starting flanker and the youngest forward since 1912.
Having started his career at Sale Sharks in 2016, Curry continues to play for the club and has no aspirations of moving anytime soon. When he made his debut against Scarlets in the European Champions Cup, Curry became the youngest player to ever represent Sale in the competition. He also became the fourth-youngest English player to play in the competition.
Although regarded as one of the countries leading rugby talents, Curry has maintained a level head and is a well-rounded individual with expertise in a range of vital topics. He spends a lot of his time as a rugby speaker and often discusses topics like peak performance and achieving goals. These are two topics Curry has had to show throughout his career to date, they have helped him break into the England squad and become a real fan favourite at Sale.
Curry comes from a family of rugby stars and is twin brothers with Ben Curry who also plays for Sale. His uncle and cousin both also played professional rugby to the highest level with his uncle playing for England. In his 13 game England career, Curry has scored 15 points and three tires, these came against Wales, Scotland and Ireland in 2019.
A wonderful talent and a rising star of the game, Tom Curry often reflects on his rapidly developing career and what it takes to perform at the elite level of a sport.
